ABOUT ME
Michiko Yoshifuji, founder of Japaneeds NY Inc., is a linguistic specialist between Japanese and English with over 20 years of experience in writing, translation, and consulting.
Based in NY, she has been providing excellent linguistic services to numerous clients with hundreds of projects across a wide range of industries.
She not only works independently on a project basis, but also teams up with many leading talented professionals who work at the top of their field, such as photographers, producers, designers, videographers, editors, both in the U.S. and Japan.
Native in Japanese, Michiko earned a B.A. in Economics in Japan and M.A. in Media Studies and M.S. in Acupuncture in the U.S.

ニューヨークの摩天楼をはじめて目にしたのは、19歳の時の貧乏旅行。
この街が放つ独特のにおいと強烈なエネルギーに気持ちが昂ぶり、
ただ立ちつくした自分を今でも鮮明に覚えている。
その時「いつか、ここで生活する」と心の中で小さな決意を固めた。
それを実現するには、紆余曲折もあり、
時間もたっぷりかかったけれど、
今、私はここに生きている。
ニューヨークは、今もあの時と同じボルテージの高さで、息づいている。
世界が交差するメトロポリス、マンハッタンは不思議な力を秘めた街だ。
その原動力は、まさに、ここに磁石のように引きつけられる人間たちの
野心と個性に集約されるのかもしれない。
移民で創られた街、マンハッタン。
多様な文化、価値観、宗教、人種、民族が混ざり合いながら、
一人一人が夢と自尊心を持って生きている。
まさに、そんな個々のエネルギーと個性が
この街を形成しているのかもしれない。
孤独や挫折と背中合わせに、夢を実現する可能性を彷彿させてくれる街だから、
生きる神秘や、刺激や、感動や、驚きを与えてくれる街だから、
人はニューヨークにとりつかれていくのだろう。
この街に住んで数十年。
ニューヨークの良いところも、嫌なところも見え、
今では、ニューヨークが私の一番の「ふるさと」になったような気持ちも少しする。
年齢や限界を感じさせず、いつでも、本物を受け入れてくれる器の広さにおいては、
やはりニューヨークは世界でもピカ一といえるだろう。
だからこそ、気持ちをリセットして、新しい心構えとやる気で
今後もずっとニューヨークと向き合っていきたい、と謙虚に思う。
同時に、そんなニューヨークの素顔や奥深さを
日本人としてのプライドやアイデンティティにもこだわりながら、
この街で生きる一人の女性として、
今後も伝えられたら素敵だな、と思っている。
